BAYPORT, Minn. (Oct. 13, 2005) — Andersen is expanding its popular 400 Series Woodwright® product line with a new double-hung insert window to provide remodelers and homeowners with greater design flexibility in window replacement.  The Woodwright insert window features the same beautiful, architecturally-inspired aesthetics, design and options as the full-frame Woodwright window in a simple-to-install frame that minimizes disruption to the home.  It will be available nationwide in 2006.

The Woodwright double-hung insert window is designed for installation into the “pocket” of an existing window opening – the space created after the old window’s sash, counterweight balance system and parting stops have been removed.  The Woodwright insert window can then be installed with minimal disruption to interior trim or exterior casing.  It is an excellent solution for owners of older homes who want to update the performance of their windows, but are unwilling to compromise on the aesthetics and architecture of their original windows and trim work.

“The new Woodwright double-hung insert window delivers superior beauty, both inside and out, while offering quick and easy installation,” said Rod Krois, director of window marketing at Andersen.  “These windows complement classic American homes and are designed for weather-tight installation and long-term performance*.”

Andersen® Woodwright double-hung insert windows are loaded with design features that emulate old-fashioned double-hung window details, with modern performance to meet the expectations of today’s customers.

  • Available in custom sizes (in 1/8” increments).
  • Equal, cottage and reverse-cottage sash configurations.
  • The sash features authentic-looking mortise-and-tenon looking joints, a tall bottom rail commonly found on traditional windows, and a beautiful chamfer milling detail on the sash and stops.
  • The unique sill is designed to provide an excellent fit and a seamless appearance on the home’s exterior. It helps replicate the original appearance of the old windows.
  • Installation kits and instruction guides are included with every window.
